At least one Russian hockey player this season will become the owner of the Stanley Cup. This became known after Edmonton flew out of the draw.
The day before, the Oilers lost in overtime to the Colorado (5:6 OT), leaving the series dry with a score of 0-4. Thus, the Avalanche became the first finalists for the 2022 Stanley Cup.
Russian forward Valery Nichushkin is playing in Colorado. In another semi-final series between Tampa and the New York Rangers (1-2), goaltender Andrei Vasilevsky, defender Mikhail Sergachev, forward Nikita Kucherov play for the Lightning, goalkeepers Igor Shesterkin and Alexander Georgiev play for their rivals, as well as forward Artemy Panarin.
Thus, at least one Russian will become the owner of the main NHL trophy in the current championship.
