President of the Russian Hockey Federation (FHR) Vladislav Tretiak believes that New York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin deserves awards for the best player and goaltender in the NHL at the end of the 2021/22 season.
Shesterkin played 53 games in the NHL regular season, scored 36 wins, conceded an average of 2.07 goals and saved 93.5% of shots. He claims the Hart Trophy at the end of the season, which is awarded to the hockey player who has made the greatest contribution to the success of his team in the regular season. The goalkeeper also claims the “Vezina Trophy”, which is awarded to the best goalkeeper.
– I would give Shesterkin both awards. But it’s hard to say how the NHL decides. Igor is progressing year after year, in the last regular season he became the best both in terms of the average number of missed goals and the percentage of reflected shots, ”RBC Sport quotes Tretyak as saying.
