A fierce fist fight in the NHL Finals. It all started with a dirty foul on a Russian

The end of the third match of the final series of the Stanley Cup turned out to be incredibly emotional. In the third period, the teams did not score a single goal, but they pleased the fans with a variety of non-game moments. And this, after all, is no less important for a good match.

When the timer had only two minutes left before the final whistle, an episode happened that put an excellent end to the fight. The nervous tension that grew with every minute resulted in a fierce fistfight.

And it all started with a dirty trick against a Russian!

Kucherov sets the tone

By the beginning of the third period, Colorado was already losing 6-2. Of course, this state of affairs did not suit the guests, and because of this they were a lot nervous. 7 minutes before the end, Devon Toews got angry and notably pinned Nikita Kucherov to the board, getting two minutes on the penalty bench.

It is not unusual that a brutal Canadian defender behaved so cruelly. He could not cope with Kucherov and, apparently, decided to take revenge on him in this way. However, then it became clear that Nikita would not be able to continue the game, and it was a very emotional moment. The injury to a key Tampa player has tugged even more on the nerve strings.

Boxing on ice

In the last minutes of a final series match, every junction can be the catalyst for a violent reaction. That’s what happened this time. Just a few minutes after Kucherov left the ice, accompanied by doctors, attackers Logan O’Connor and Ross Colton collided near the boards and started a fight in the best traditions of boxing. It was not an ordinary hockey fight, when the wall climbs the wall, but a real one-on-one fight, with hooks and punches.

The advantage was clearly on O’Connor’s side. At some point, the Colorado forward carried out a series of blows to the opponent’s face, and he, in turn, managed to throw off the helmet from the opponent’s head. However, this did not stop O’Connor from knocking Colton to the ice. Only here the judges were finally able to intervene and separate the players. The audience was in complete awe. The fight took place at the very board, and the fans actively supported their own.

After the match, many fans and pundits raved about the fight on social media. It immediately becomes clear how important these episodes are for the NHL.

– Colton vs. O’Connor – what a real battle! — wrote TV presenter Adam Gold.

“Great fight for Colton. How quickly he recovered from the blows and answered O’Connor! admires journalist Colin Newby.

“O’Connor just kicked Colton’s ass!” The coolest fight! — shares his impressions of K-Twizzle.

– That’s why Gary Bettman (NHL commissioner – approx. Sportbox.ru) does not prohibit fights. Look at the reaction of the fans! calls André Ménard.

The NHL shouldn’t look down on fights. I’m sure everyone, especially viewers, adore them! echoes Brandon.
