Forward of the NHL club “New York Rangers” Artemy Panarin said that he is unlikely to learn English, despite the fact that he has been living in the United States for several years.

Panarin has been playing in the NHL since 2015. Previously, he defended the colors of Chicago and Columbus, and since 2019 he has been a hockey player for the Rangers.

— You are not going to give interviews in English?

— Let’s start with the fact that I can’t do it in English. And apparently I won’t.

– You have been playing in the NHL for seven years.

– Yes, I have already rewound seven. And there is no progress because for five years I have been looking at this mobile crap. And I had to communicate with people. It was only in the last year that I began to look around. We sit in a company of six Americans, we have lunch. It’s uncomfortable for you, you don’t know English. You’re stuck on your phone doing some pointless crap. And time flies.

I bought my grandfather a computer two years ago. So he stopped going outside! Because he reads the comments on VKontakte and thinks that it is written by journalists. And my grandfather is nervous about it.

Friends evaporate! Grandfather is no longer sitting on the bench, he does not discuss anyone. Doesn’t mess around. It’s so bad,” Panarin told reporters.

He also stated that he suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), which is why he decided to stop using social networks.

— How did you switch to a push-button telephone?

– As the flask begins to splash. I have OCD, do you know about this disorder? Every day we have new views on the world. Now I take it with pleasure. As if he was freed, he used to spend hours on social networks, on YouTube, in the morning he got up in the toilet – his elbows on his knees were imprinted, – the hockey player noted.

Panarin also stated that he was not interested in becoming the captain of the Rangers.

Have you been offered the captaincy of the Rangers?

– Not.

– Is it normal that your club has been without a captain for a long time?

– Maybe. We’ve played well this season. It’s up to the managers and coaches to decide who will be the captain. And I play hockey!

Do you need this pressure when you are not responsible for yourself, but for the whole team?

– It’s complicated. After all, you need to constantly say this, and you must have such a warehouse of character. And I don’t want to become a captain just to hang the letter “C” on my sweater and print 18 photos with my image to walk around and be proud of.

In the 2021/22 season, Panarin played 50 games in the NHL regular season, scored 44 points (16+28), in 20 playoff games earned 16 points for performance (6+10).
