The KHL answered the question about the inclusion of the name of the bookmakers in the naming of clubs

KHL Vice President for Marketing and Communications Sergey Dobrokhvalov spoke about cooperation with bookmakers and the success of these projects.

– In recent years, Russian sports have been actively working with bookmakers. To what extent was this cooperation mutually beneficial last season?

— The season turned out to be productive. We were able to attract a new audience to our colleagues from the betting market. Sponsor activations in various leagues and clubs grew even during the year. Bookmakers are active advertisers who constantly come up with some kind of initiatives and loudly declare themselves. So this is a living partnership. Since the new season, we have removed the exclusive for this product category, and clubs can now independently attract bookmakers as sponsors. This has had a significant effect. Almost all clubs have already signed contracts with one or another betting company. Therefore, this measure was definitely timely, given the economic problems that some clubs will face. And in the new season, we will see exciting new activations from our partners.

– The Nizhny Novgorod football club was renamed Pari NN due to a contract with a betting company. Is this possible in the KHL? How will the league react to this?

– Recently, representatives of one betting company asked me if they can get title sponsorship and add their name to the naming of clubs. I replied that the league would not be able to legally prevent this. If this is a conversation about substantial money that would help the club multiply its budget, then the league would only welcome this. But we must understand that most of our clubs have a history, many are 75 years old. Therefore, theoretically, I admit the possibility of changing the name, but in practice I do not think that this is being implemented. It is unlikely that regions or large enterprises that finance clubs will agree to this. But again, it all depends on the economic situation, – quotes the words of Dobrokhvalov “RB Sport”.

The new KHL season starts on September 1st.

The matches on the fourth day of the U-20 World Junior Hockey Championship have started.

In a brutal match, Switzerland beat Germany 4-0, sending their opponents into a survival game that will pit the Germans against the last team in Group B.

Germany finished without points and advanced to the knockout stages along with Switzerland, Sweden, the USA and Slovakia, although their final group positions will be determined by subsequent matches.

OFFICIALLY. The club suspended participation in the Ukrainian Championship

Storm hockey club announced its decision to suspend participation in the Ukrainian Championship. The Odessa team had not come to the Krizhinka match before.

At the same time, Storm denied that the issue was related to financial problems and expressed distrust of the Ukrainian Hockey Federation.

Statement from HC Storm

“Due to systematic violation of the principles of equality and justice in competitions, Shtor hockey club expressed its distrust in the leadership of the Ukrainian Hockey Federation and decided to suspend its participation in the Ukrainian Championship.”

There was already a situation this season when Krizhinka suspended its participation in the championship due to referee problems.

At the end of game day of the NHL regular season, Carolina defeated the New York Rangers to become the sole leader in the East and sit two points ahead of Detroit with 7 wins in 10 games.

Among other results, we also note Buffalo’s improbable 9 straight wins. Blades, St. It defeated St. Louis and snapped such a long winning streak for the first time since 2018. There are only two points in the top 3 of the league.

Florida won an important victory. The champions were stronger than Washington and were slowly rising to the top of the Atlantic Division.

In the West, Edmonton handed Winnipeg its sixth straight loss, and Oilers goaltender Calvin Picard made 41 saves. Connor McDavid extended his point streak to 13 games.

In the California derby, San Jose beat Anaheim 5:4 and forward McClean Celebrini scored three points to extend their streak of points to eight matches.
