“We wish our guys good luck” – Fetisov on the results of the 2022 draft in the NHL

Two-time Olympic champion Vyacheslav Fetisov, summing up the results of the 2022 draft in the NHL for Russian players, said that there can be no bias towards them.

At the 10th number, Russian guard Pavel Mintyukov was drafted by Anaheim. Forward Ivan Miroshnichenko at number 20 was selected by Washington, and Minnesota drafted forward Danila Yurov at number 24.

— There the whole philosophy is that the draft helps to make any club a leader. There is serious work going on. Clubs spend a lot of money tracking hockey players from their youth all over the world. With the right management, any club can become a leader. I think that this system should work for us as well. We must abandon club supplies in sports schools. I don’t follow young hockey players, but nevertheless, the NHL’s perspicacity, which, thanks to the Russians and Europeans, has become an example and unites athletes from all continents.

We wish the guys good luck. There are no mistakes in the first round of the draft. They have been followed for five years from all sides. Each scout gives them his assessment. There can be no preconceived notions. It turns out that 32 teams evaluate the player. Then all this goes to the central bureau, where the rating of the players is formed, – quotes the words of Fetisov “Championship”.
