Kazan “Ak Bars” has signed a new one-year contract with striker Danis Zaripov, according to the website of the hockey club.
For the 41-year-old veteran, the new season will be the 18th in Ak Bars. In the club’s sweater, he played 913 matches in the championships of Russia, scored 645 points (292 goals + 353 assists).
– I planned to end my career on a high note – with the Gagarin Cup. Last season, this was not possible, so I decided to continue playing.
Incredibly happy to stay at my home club for another year. It has always been an honor for me to play in the colors of Ak Bars, to represent Kazan and Tatarstan. I thank the club for the offer, and the fans for their constant support. In the new season, we will make every effort to return the Gagarin Cup to Kazan,” Zaripov said.
The striker is a five-time winner of the Gagarin Cup, as part of Ak Bars he won the trophy three times, two more times together with Metallurg Magnitogorsk.
