Maiorov about the words of Hasek: “The scale of Russophobia in Europe and North America is striking”

Two-time Olympic hockey champion Boris Mayorov, commenting on the words of two-time Stanley Cup winner Dominik Hasek that the Czech Republic should legally ban athletes from playing in Russia, spoke about large-scale manifestations of Russophobia in the West.

Hasek, after the transfer of Czech forward Dmitry Yashkin to St. Petersburg SKA, on his Twitter page called on the Czech government to pass a bill banning athletes from performing in Russia.

– I am generally amazed at the scale of Russophobia that has engulfed Europe and North America. At the same time, Russia is in contact with the Middle and Far East, Africa, South America, and nowhere else is there anything like it. But in Europe, it seems that people immediately faint when they hear something about Russia!

I don’t understand this hate. You remember the story – Russia has never attacked Europe. All we do is fight off the aggressors. Either from the Poles, then from the Swedes, from the French, Germans… And this hatred goes on all fronts, including sports ones. We’ll cut it off here, we won’t let it in here, we’ll restrict it there… The only exception is the United States. There, as soon as it comes to commerce, they immediately wanted to spit on Russophobia. This applies primarily to the NHL. As soon as it comes to money, in America they immediately forget about Russophobia, ”Match TV quotes Maiorov as saying.
