“I have a new beginning, at the age of 35 a new breath opened up” – goalkeeper Yezhov

Salavat Yulaev goalkeeper Ilya Yezhov shared his impressions about signing a contract with the Ufa club.

Yezhov’s transfer was announced on 5 May.

– Ufa is a city that lives and cheers for hockey. I am very happy to be on this team. I have a new beginning, let’s say, at the age of 35 a new breath opened up.

I had conversations with Salavat for a long time, but somehow it didn’t work out in the end. Either Metsola took first place, then some other factors. This year the situation turned out well for me, and I decided to sign a contract. This is an elite, top club, and I am very happy with such an offer and such a chance to revive my career, ”Championship” quotes Yezhov as saying.

Last season, Yezhov played for Vityaz near Moscow, in which he played 32 games in the KHL regular season. He saved 91.3% of shots and had a 2.76 safety factor.

In total, the goalkeeper played 398 matches in the KHL, in which his team scored 154 victories. Earlier in the league, Yezhov also played for Lada Togliatti, Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk and SKA St. Petersburg, with whom he won the Gagarin Cup in the 2014/15 season.
