Dynamo Minsk hockey player Aleksey Yemelin spoke about his experience of working with Canadian coach Bob Hartley at Avangard Omsk.

Dynamo announced the transfer of the 36-year-old Russian defender to the team on July 29. The contract between the parties is for one season. Emelin played for Avangard from 2018 to 2022.

‘Are you tired of Hartley’s methods in four years?’ Some players and the season with Bob could not stand it.

– I am not tired. For me, his methods were a plus. Bob has a very high discipline. This is right. I think where there are high results, there should be a place of high discipline. Hartley is a systematic person, he had a lot of requirements, but they were all to the point and brought us success.

– Do I understand correctly that Hartley was a meticulous coach, and someone was annoyed by this?

Yes, he was meticulous. Again, I say: it was not always convenient, but it brought results. When we did everything, we won.

– You came to Hartley as an already formed player with great experience. Did Bob reveal something to you?

– In principle, I always played with systemic coaches. They always had discipline and a strict system. Take Pyotr Ilyich Vorobyov or Zinetula Khaidyarovich Bilyaletdinov. They all just have a different vision of this system on ice, but in general they are very similar, – Emelin said in an interview with Sport24.

In the 2021/22 season, the defender played in 43 KHL regular season games, scoring 8 (2+6) points. In the playoffs for 13 games, he scored 5 (2+3) points.
