The American striker of Avangard Alex Broadhurst spoke about his childhood, and also admitted that he admired the game of Pavel Datsyuk as a child.
In June, Avangard announced the signing of a one-year contract with 29-year-old Broadhurst, who spent the last two seasons at the Finnish HIFK.
— I was born in a suburb of Chicago, a place called Oakland. I grew up in the city of Orland Park, we live there and now live in the summer. I got into hockey after my older brother, as a child you always repeat after your brother, you follow him everywhere. As a result, I fell in love with hockey. How many hours we spent with him in the basement, playing against each other!
My brother and I were big fans of Jeremy Roenick and Chris Chelios, who played in Chicago. As a child, I met with them at the arena, took autographs, it was very cool. I also followed Joe Sakic, Steve Yzerman. When Pavel Datsyuk arrived in Detroit, he also followed him. Unique craftsmanship, one might say, revolutionary, – quotes the words of Broadhurst “Championship”.
