Defending champions Manchester City begin their cup defense at home against EFL Championship side Norwich City. Pep Guardiola's side won the Carabao Cup in March after defeating Arsenal, who have been drawn away to Ipswich Town.
Chelsea will face historic rivals Leeds United at Stamford Bridge, provided the Blues defeat Luton Town in their second-round tie on Thursday. Aston Villa face a short West Midlands trip to play Frank Lampard's Coventry City.
UEFA Conference League winners Crystal Palace start their campaign for a third consecutive season of silverware at home to EFL Championship side Middlesbrough. Newcastle United visit south London side Millwall after defeating West Bromwich Albion in the second round.
All Premier League third round ties
Bournemouth welcome League One outfit Lincoln City to the Vitality Stadium on the south coast. Everton host Wolverhampton Wanderers at Goodison Park, and Sunderland take on Hull City in another all-Premier League encounter. Fulham will travel to West Ham United if they overcome AFC Wimbledon in their Thursday fixture.
Elsewhere in the third-round draw, Brentford visit Berkshire side Reading, while League Two outfit Fleetwood Town, the lowest-ranked team remaining in the competition, host Sheffield United. Peterborough United play Barnsley, and Leyton Orient host Bradford City in all-EFL clashes.
European competition rules and fixture dates
Special draw conditions were applied to the eight Premier League clubs participating in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League this season. These teams could not be drawn against each other to avoid scheduling conflicts with the expanded opening fixtures of both European competitions.
A pre-draw was conducted before Everton's second-round victory against Preston North End to determine home and away designations for third-round matches. Brighton & Hove Albion are participating in the Conference League play-offs but were excluded from the pre-draw because the league phase of that competition does not begin until October.
Matches will take place across the weeks commencing September 7 and September 14 to accommodate the busy European football calendar. The Carabao Cup is the sponsored name of the EFL Cup, a major domestic knockout competition open to all 92 clubs in the top four divisions of English football.
