Frenchman Fabio Quartararo dominated at the end of the first half of the second day of practice at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, with Marc Márquez in 10th, 0.526 behind the defending champions. Towards the end of FP3 this morning, Alex Espargaro’s left hand crashed.

Quartararo set the best time of 1:31.116 on the penultimate lap of the 40 laps completed before the lunch break, on a track occasionally seen on 2023 prototypes, with a much faster new engine, new chassis and new aerodynamics.

Marc Márquez arrived early at the circuit and had a good time with his team of engineers and mechanics before jumping on the track with up to three different bikes to try out a number of new parts and some new ones. Because one of his prototypes saw a completely new fairing very similar to Aleix’s Espargaro and Maverick’s Vinales’ Aprilia RS-GP, as well as the swingarm of his Moto2 Carex chassis.

After a period of recovery from his fourth surgery, Marquez showed constant adaptation to the bike and quickly showed that he was very fast, approaching the best in the category and already the fastest of all Aradorada representatives. The Repsol Honda rider completed 34 laps of the track and finished 29th with a best time of 1:31.642, 1/526th behind Quartararo.

With a time of 1:31.116, Quartararo beat his best time on the first day of practice by more than a tenth. This is what Pecco Bagnaia established in his 1:31.292, and today he dropped to 1:31.172, just 5/56000.

Behind them, Maverick Vinales finished in his Aprilia RS-GP, just 1/73 thousandths behind, while Enea Bastianini (Ducati Desmosedici GP21) was fourth at 1/171ths, ahead of the other Aprilias. He surpassed rider Aleix Espargaro.

The Accident of Aleix Espargaro

The man from Granollers had just set the best time of the day (1.31.333) and on lap 37 he was trying to cut even more when he crashed into one of the circuit’s fastest corners and broke his pinky finger. Did. He was forced to finish the test. He was treated by a traveling doctor, and on his return he plans to consult with Dr. Mir at Dexeus in Barcelona to rule out major injuries.

“I was a little unlucky. I fell in a very fast corner. My finger moved a little when I went into the gravel. I broke a bone, but I don’t think it’s a requirement for the Grand Prix de Aragon,” explained Alex to journalists.
