ECO Rally Acropolis: Toyota enters 3+1 Yaris to repeat last year’s success
2021 winner Kale Rovanpera arrives in Greece with a comfortable lead in the standings, flanked by Elfin Evans and Esapeka Lapi.
Toyota Gazoo Racing wants victory and only victory at the ECO Rally Acropolis 2022. The Japanese company’s racing team wants to repeat last year’s success.
2021 winner Kale Rovanpera arrives in Greece 72 points clear in the standings and needs victory to cement the title and become the youngest champion in WRC history – just in time for the Finn’s 22nd birthday on January 1. October.
With a second place finish in Belgium, Elphin Evans is third in the standings and theoretically in contention for the title, so he’ll be giving it his all at the EKO Rally Acropolis.
The third Yaris will be driven by Esapeka Lapi, who has taken two podiums in the previous two races of the season. Lapi has little experience with the Acropolis, having only managed it once, in 2014 as part of the ERC.
Finally, Japan’s Takamoto Katsuta makes his debut at our national race with the second Toyota team, TGR ERT Next Generation.
Sportish lives the legendary EKO Acropolis Rally together with EKO, the largest Greek marketing company in its category and a main sponsor of the event and also the “EKO Super Special Stage” in OAKA.
