The special routes and the Saturday program at the EKO Rally Acropolis

The third day of the EKO Rally Acropolis features three repeating specials: the “Tower”, the “Orchard” and the “Tarzan”. The latter will be broadcast live both times.

SATURDAY 10 SEPTEMBER 2022

ED 8 & 11, PYRGOS

• Length: 33.20 km
• Closing time of the route: ED 8 05:30, ED 11 11:30
• First car time: ED 8 08:33, ED 11 14:33

DESCRIPTION

The biggest ed of the race. It starts just after the exit of Pyrgos village with a relatively narrow but good section for 12 km, continues on a relatively wide road and crosses Dafni village. From there begins a particularly narrow section, fast at the beginning and quite closed towards the end, with a length of about 6 km to the village of Anatoly. From there and for about 10 km it is very fast and very comfortable for the crews. Perhaps the most interesting part of the entire race for the participants.

ACCESS FOR SPECTATORS

The approaches have three classifications according to the difficulty of their road surface. The letter that characterizes them is next to their number in the following text. The features are:

• S= Soft = IX wagon
• M= Medium = SUV
• H= Hard = 4×4 or Enduro

1 (S+H): Coming from Lamia via Ypatis you cross Kastania and at its exit follow the asphalt road to Neochori. At the end of town, follow the gravel road in the direction of Mavrolithari. After 2.80 km, turn left at the junction and continue for another 6.35 km to reach 9.26 km of the special route.

2 (S): Via Paulianis-Pyron Herakleou you reach Mavrolithari. At the end of the town, where there is an uphill road on the right, turn at zero and continue on the main road. After 1.90 km you reach the entrance sign “Kastriotissa”, which you cross. At kilometer 5.38 park on the road and walk 390 m on the dirt road on the right until you reach kilometer 12.06 of the special route.

THE INFORMATION: This dirt road, like the paved road on the left, is an ambulance escape. Please park on one side of the street only or after the intersection leading to the ed.

3 (H): Before entering “Marmara” follow the road to the far right at the sign “Pros Pera Synoikia”. After you have passed the first crossing, after 240 m you leave a street on the right and after another 300 m turn right. Continuing on a very narrow road, after 1.20 km you will reach flying the special route (park on the road from which you came). Attention: Since there is no place to maneuver, you have to wait until the special route is finished and the rear car has passed to drive towards Marmara village.

ED 9 & 12, PERIVOLI

• Length: 17.42km

DESCRIPTION

It starts with a 7.0km section that will make it difficult for crews in the rain (in the trees, with minimal visibility and no space for spectators). It is about 2.50 km with a lot of planted stone, and from there to the finish the road surface is paved.

THE INFORMATION: This particular route is not available for tracking. Very difficult access both to the start and to the finish, with particularly dense vegetation in the first 8 km.

ED 10-13, TARZAN

• Length: 23.37km
• Closing time of the route: ED 10 08:02, ED 13 14:02
• First car time: ED 10 11:08, ED 13 17:08

DESCRIPTION

The return of the “Tarzan” special last year was “embraced” by viewers. The first, about ten kilometers downhill, lead on a hard road through dense forest. Then the road is particularly good for about 4 kilometers. After the junction to Rovoliari and Redina begins the well-known cobblestone road of Tarzan, which takes its toll on suspension and tires. The finish line is just before the village entrance of Palaia Giannitsou.

1a (M): From the village of Rovoliari you reach 400 meters before the 14.81 km route Follow the instructions of the police and judges and park your vehicle in the dedicated parking lots. This street is an ambulance escape. A possible closure harbors the risk of the cancellation of the special route.

1b (S): From the entrance of Redina village (where the plane is located) continue towards the village. After 1.64 km you will reach the square (cafe on the right) and turn left. After 480 m, where there is a stop sign, follow the road to the right at the fork. At km 6.40 at the fork (sign “Moni Redinas” on the right) continue on the left road. After 1.90 km (sign “Dimos Sofados Oria Rentinas”) continue straight. At km 2.91 EL.AS. will disrupt traffic. Park and in 440 m you will reach the 14.81 km of the special route.

2 (M): Reset at the Central Greece Region building, at the exit from Lamia to Karpenissi. At km 25.51 turn right towards Makrakomi. After 3.02 km turn left and after 600 m go straight on at the roundabout. After 100 m turn right at the bus stop. After 800 m turn right towards “Chuka”, where you will arrive after 6.38 km, after 450 m turn far left and after 80 m turn far right. In 680 m on the left is the village cemetery and in 140 m the surface becomes dirty. After 850 m at Trichalo follow the right road and after 3.90 km (small house on the right) turn right. At km 5.78 you reach 19.64 of the special route.

3 (M): Reset at the Central Greece Region building, at the exit from Lamia to Karpenissi. At km 25.51 turn right towards Makrakomi. After 3.02 km turn left and after 600 m go straight on at the roundabout. After 100 m turn right at the bus stop. After 800 m turn right towards “Chuka”, where you will arrive after 6.38 km, after 450 m turn far left and after 80 m turn far right.

In 680 m on the left is the village cemetery and in 140 m the surface becomes dirty. At km 4.25, turn right onto the “white” concrete road. After 960 m turn right again and after 180 m turn left over a right curve. In 4.77 km you reach the 22.33 km of the road.
