Hamilton: “For once they didn’t apply the rules and changed the outcome of the championship”
Arrows were thrown by Lewis Hamilton on the fact that the Monza race was finished under the safety car regime, reminiscent of the events in Abu Dhabi in 2021.
The Italian Grand Prix at Monza ended under safety car conditions after Ricciardo’s car was not removed.
This prompted the scathing comment from Lewis Hamilton, who, speaking to Sky Sports, recalled what happened in the final race of the championship in Abu Dhabi in 2021 when the title was decided.
“Every time there’s a safety car, it brings back memories. That’s how the rules are, that’s how they should be interpreted. Only once in the history of the sport have they not applied the regulations as they do today and it was the race that changed the outcome of the championship.”said Lewis Hamilton, among others.
