With 24 races, the Formula 1 program for 2023 is on the agenda
A record 24 GPs comprise the 2023 Formula 1 programme, which begins on March 5th in Bahrain and ends on November 26th in Abu Dhabi. China and Qatar return, the only new race in Las Vegas.
The FIA has approved the schedule for the next Formula One World Championship for 2023, which will consist of 24 races – the most ever – and will bring back the Chinese GP by adding a third race in America and a fourth in the Middle East to be added.
The year starts earlier than usual with just a three-day winter test in Bahrain from February 23rd to 25th. Although the second game takes place in neighboring Saudi Arabia, there will be a two-week break after the first game.
F1, meanwhile, has confirmed it will return to the all-important market of China on April 16 after a three-year absence from the program due to the coronavirus pandemic.
If China doesn’t step in, South Africa would return to the program after decades, but that’s finally set to happen in 2024. Qatar secured October 8 as the date.
The only new race this year will therefore be the Las Vegas GP in the American gambling town in the Nevada desert, which will be held on Saturday evening instead of Sunday.
The first of the three races will be held in spring at Imola, Monaco and Barcelona to free up the next three days to not coincide with the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Another important change is the relocation of the Belgian Grand Prix ahead of the summer holidays at the end of July, while the Spa race was traditionally held in late August to early September.
His date will be next year’s Dutch GP, which takes place a week before the Italian one. Finally, with the addition of the three races that did not exist this year (China, Qatar, Las Vegas) and the increase in the schedule to 24 races, one had to be scrapped: the French GP, as announced earlier this year by the organizers of Paul’s race Ricard.
Towards the end of the year there will be another trio of races in Texas, Mexico and Brazil, while the F1 caravan will head to Abu Dhabi after Saturday night’s Las Vegas finale on Sunday 26th November.
