Alguersuari: “Neither I nor Saint liked us at Red Bull”

Jaime Alversuari, former Red Bull and Toro Rosso Academy driver, has opened up about RBR’s treatment of its new drivers, the brutality with which he was treated and his potential departure, saying he still dreams of ” that Mr. Marko is attacking me”.

A decade later, Alguersuari – the son of a former motorcycling world champion – made shocking revelations in an interview with Spanish newspaper El Confidencial about how he was treated by Red Bull and his advisor and Academy head, Dr. Helmut Markus.

I don’t think either Carlos or I ever liked Red Bull“said the 32-year-old Alverswari today. “They helped us because there was talent and we deserved it. But deep down they were looking for a driver with a different profile. I say this with my hand on my heart. Red Bull is looking for riders who are in the middle of a lake, unknown to themselves or their families and completely dependent on Red Bull.

Not so with a driver whose father was an organizer in the smaller classes prior to F1 and had a place and voice in the industry. And in the case of Carlos, the same. In my case, the chosen one was my teammate Brendon Hartley, but I won Formula 3 and they had no choice.

At Toro Rosso I beat Buemi but he continued to enjoy the help. I was told by Newey that I folded down the third driver’s seat, but that wasn’t true, nobody had told me anything“.

The Spaniard, who moved through Formula E before finally retiring from motorsport to pursue music in late 2015, then revealed the brutality with which he was told by Red Bull that he was no longer part of Toro Rosso .

And then Jaime Alversuari said: “You didn’t live in peace at Red Bull, even though you had great results. Your opponents congratulated you more than your own team. And we’ve felt that since we were 15 years old. Nothing was ever enough. Lo and behold, that’s how Max Verstappen felt with his father. This is the Red Bull school.

I still have very strange dreams from back then when I sleep. I see Mr. Marcos who is constantly angry and attacks me like I am a child. He challenged me [ψυχικό] Wound. Carlos Sainz Sr., father of Carlos Sainz and two-time world rally champion, has commented on Ferrari’s decision to replace his son with seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.

Sainz was left without a seat at Ferrari last year and later joined Williams. In 2025, the Spaniard outperformed Hamilton and achieved two podiums, while the Briton had none.

Carlos Sainz Sr. emphasized that neither he nor his son criticized Hamilton:

“It’s not our problem, it’s not Carlos’ problem. Ferrari was close to winning the constructors’ championship in 2024, but this year the team has faced difficulties. My advice, and Carlos agrees, is to focus on your work. The world is already too complex to worry about everyone. Let people draw their own conclusions,” he said.

At the same time, Sainz Sr. believes that his son can become a world champion:

“I have a lot of confidence in him and I want to believe that it is possible. I am his father and I have seen how talented he is. If he is in the right place at the right time, he can really achieve this. Everything has to match perfectly. He works and fights for it,” he added.

The rally champion also noted that success depends on the car and the team:

“Unfortunately, I don’t have a crystal ball to know how teams are preparing for radical changes in F1. It all depends on the engine and the chassis. It would be good for Williams to produce a competitive car and fight for the podium. Now they can be at the bottom, middle or top of the table and under the new rules the stronger teams have more resources.”
