Alvaro Bautista scores a hat-trick at the Catalan Grand Prix

Spanish Alvaro Bautista (Ducati) got the high register Catalan Grand Prix By adding the Superpole and Race 2 wins to the Race 1 victory achieved on Saturday.

Bautista won race 2 from pole position, further extending his championship lead as no one could beat him from the lights to the flags of race 2.

Midway through the race, the Talaveraan driver already had a lead of five seconds, which continued to increase in the second half of the race, crossing the finish line in over eight seconds.

Behind Bautista, the battle for 2nd place unfolded Michael Ruben Rinaldi (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati), Axel Bassani (Motocorsa Racing), Toprak Razgatriol (Yamaha) battled for the remaining podium spots, with the pair frequently swapping places. Ultimately Bautista’s team-mate Rinaldi made a decisive move on Turn 1 on lap 11 to pass Bassani for second after a thrilling battle.

As a result, Bautista was able to extend his championship lead to 59 points against Razgatrior and 394 points against 335 points. He scored his fourth hat-trick of his career for Aragon, his first since 2019, trailing him by 29 points over the weekend. Rea is third with 327 points.
