Kale Rovanpera won the WRC Championship for 2022 and made history
Kale Rowanpera in a Toyota GP Yaris Rally1 was the winner of Rally New Zealand, won the 2022 World Championship and made history as the youngest WRC champion
THE Call Rovanpera made WRC history by becoming the youngest ever champion. One day after his 22nd birthday, the Finn celebrated victory in the New Zealand Rally and at the same time conquered the world championship Toyota GP Yaris Rally1.
The record was held by the legendary Colin McRae, who was crowned world champion in 1995 at the age of 27. Rovanpera was also the first Finn to win the WRC title since Markus Grönholm in 2022.
Kale Rovanpera and his co-driver Jone Haltunen have taken six victories in their 11 WRC races so far and there was no shortage of champagne, as is understandable after the big win.
