Alonso leads Japan’s first free practice, followed by Sainz
spanish pilot Fernando Alonso (Alpine) Achieved the fastest time in the first trial today Japanese Grand Prixfollowed by Spanish Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) and Monegasque Charles Leclercfrom the same team.
With a best lap of 1:42.248, Alonso was the fastest in opening practice at the Suzuka track in Mie Prefecture, which was soaked by heavy rain for most of the morning.
Sainz finished second, 1 in 315,000, and his teammate and current number 2 in the World Championship was 1 in 386,000 ahead of Alonso.
Dutchman Max Verstappen (Red Bull), the current outstanding leader of the World Championship, finished sixth, while fellow Mexican Sergio Perez finished tenth.
Mick Schumacher accident
Wet asphalt caused many problems for the drivers and Mick Schumacher (Haas) was one of the worst. He also finished seventh in this trial.
These first practices for the Japanese Grand Prix mark the return of F1 competition to Suzuka Circuit, which has not been held since 2019.
Then there will be other free practice on Friday, a third session on Saturday and qualifying tests before the race on Sunday.
