New Formula 1 champion Max Ferstappen has admitted he and Red Bull Racing have questions about how fast the new RB18 will be at the 2022 GPs – something that with this year’s rule change is obviously going to apply to every car, every team.

Oracle Red Bull Racing, as Milton Keynes’ team is now known, yesterday became the first Formula One team to unveil its white, redesigned new car for this season, based on the framework of this year’s radically changed design and aerodynamic regulations. .

Despite spending several hours on the simulator, Max Ferstappen has admitted that there are many unknowns about the RB18’s performance at the moment and as such has no idea how competitive it will be in 2022.

“The car has many unknown parameters”said the Dutchman. “To be honest I’m looking forward to starting the learning process because I don’t know what it’s going to feel like. So I’m looking forward to the moment when I come out of the pits for the first laps.

Personally, I’m fine and it’s important to prepare my physical condition in the best possible way. “But you can’t know the car, so I’m curious to see how it will behave on the track.”

The 24-year-old then said he would have to get used to the RB18 during winter testing, which starts in Barcelona on February 23 – but doesn’t expect any problems with it. “I’ll do what I do every time. There’s no reason to do anything differently. And of course as a driver I have to get used to the car. It’s not like you get in and out of where you were last year has ended.” , it’s not that easy. “Needs most adjustment. But the rest is as we knew it.”he stressed.

And he concluded: “The biggest change [στην οδήγηση] will be the view from the cockpit with this message [μεγαλύτερα] Tires. At some corners it gets a bit more difficult to find the exit corner. We’ll also feel a little less trapped, but we’ll get used to it. That’s why we have the tests. We’ll get used to the slips and corrections with the steering wheel and all that, but I think we’ll manage.
