Aristoteles Racing Team: Women in Motorsport
On the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, celebrated on February 11th, the Aristotle Racing Team from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki presents the girls of the team.
ART believes that women have a place in motorsport and have a lot to offer. The group has a female leader while 12 other girls from different faculties of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki participate. In its quest for gender equality, ART wants to send the message that science is for everyone and that women can do it.
More specifically, the women in the group engage in different pieces depending on which subgroup they belong to. Some take care of analyzing the chassis, others looking for sponsors and managing social media, while some are responsible for wiring the car and building various parts.
Some are also experimenting with different objects that can be attached to the car. Of course, there are also the advisors who help with the acclimatization of the new members and with all questions that exist for the construction and study of the car.
This day reminds all women and girls that their participation in various fields of science is necessary and very important for the scientific and technological community. This day states that everyone should be given the opportunity to do what they love. ART is openly committed to the fact that women must play an active role in science and supports everyone who wants to make their dreams come true.
- A few words about ART
The Aristotle Racing Team (ART) is a student research team founded in 2006 by a small group of students from the Polytechnic School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with the aim of designing, engineering and assembling a fully functional single-seater racing car that takes part in the largest international Formula Student competition every year and represents our country worldwide.
In particular, ART, starting with only 9 members, today has reached 40 students from different faculties of Aristotle, improving its already built, seventh racing car, which will be the one that will lead them to the competitions. With many awards, most recently 2nd place in the business plan competition and 4th place in the skid pad competition at the competitions in Hungary and the Czech Republic, ART is also ready for this season.
It is noteworthy that in order to achieve its goals, the team looks for and finds various sponsors who support it and, thanks to them, manage to take part every year in the largest international student competition, Formula Student SAE, together with 614 other university teams.
Under the motto “Racing is ART”, the Aristotle Racing Team is equipped with reinforcements for the new racing season and needs everyone’s support. You can get to know and see the work of ART on the various social media of the team.
