Quartararo affirms that he saw Bagnaia’s exit and braked much later.
French Fabio Quatararo (Yamaha YZR M 1), the current MotoGP World Champion who finished 3rd at Sepang, He explained that his exit was “not fantastic”.
“I saw the ‘Pecco’ start very fast and almost take first place, so I braked very late to gain a position in the first corner and ended up fifth. It’s been a big help,” he admitted.
“Then I tried to go crazy with them but it was impossible. Either way I think we had one of the best races of the yearI’m happy with my race because I started with a significantly lower formation,” said the French Yamaha rider.
Commenting on the championship, he said:You never know what will happen and if Pecco was first, I knew I would have to finish on the podium to continue my option. At one point in the race I thought I could get closer, but with two laps to go I was close to my limit so I decided to stop for a bit.
He admits that his withdrawal due to a finger injury was “a bit weird.” “You don’t need that much when you’re on the bike, but this is a circuit where you use the ‘holeshot’ device (suspension locking system) a lot and you do everything with your left hand, but it was no problem. With drugs and adrenaline that was in the body.
“The goal was to keep the championship until Valencia, but I didn’t expect Pecco to win the race, the most important thing for me is that I enjoyed the race and I haven’t enjoyed this bike in a long time so Valencia is my favorite circuit and what I have to do is to win It’s all about fighting… I want to enjoy the last race. It’s either win or lose. You play it all or nothing. One purpose is to enjoy Valencia. Quartararo said he would like to race at least like Malaysia.
