Ducati and Banaia World Champions in MotoGP
Francesco Banaia and Ducati were crowned 2022 MotoGP World Champions in Valencia, while Ducati Lenovo also won the teams’ title.
The all-Italian duo Banaia-Ducati wrote their own golden page in MotoGP history, achieving something that had never been achieved before: a rider and company from the same country won the Riders’ and Manufacturers’ Championships!
On Sunday November 6th, Francesco “Peco” Banaia officially claimed the 2022 MotoGP World Championship title in Valencia. This is Ducati’s second Riders’ World Championship title after Casey Stoner’s in 2007.
The Desmosedici GP22 was by far the best bike of the season, with Ducati securing the constructors’ title with four races to go. At the same time, Lenovo Ducati took first place in the team championship. Ducati is preparing to celebrate the Triple Summit with Ducatisti and the entire city of Bologna on December 15th.
However, the Spanish GP was won by Alex Rins, who gave Suzuki victory in its last race in MotoGP, from which it is retiring to focus on developing new technologies for its production models, the Japanese company has officially announced .
