Hamilton – Verstappen and Norris – Leclerc contact each other in episodic restart in Brazil
Chaos in Sao Paulo immediately after the restart of the Brazilian Grand Prix, with contact between Hamilton – Verstappen and Norris – Leclerc. Red Bull and Ferrari were damaged but continued after a visit to the pit lane.
Kevin Magnussen’s collision with Daniel Ricciardo on the first lap of the Formula 1 Brazilian Grand Prix brought the safety car early in the race but the restart was even more eventful.
George Russell hit the accelerator too late, the Red Bulls put pressure on Lewis Hamilton and the seven-time British world champion made contact with Max Verstappen, causing his car to suffer serious frontal damage and forcing him to return to the pit lane before accepting a five second penalty by the sports commissioners. Lando Norris collided with Charles Leclerc, which also damaged the Ferrari, but continued the race after minor repairs.
