Former Formula 1 driver dies
Former French Formula 1 driver Philippe Streiff’s heart stopped beating at the age of 68.

Streiff won 53 F1 Grands Prix from 1984 to 1988 with Renault, Ligier, Tyrell and AGS. Philippe Streiff’s third place at the 1985 Australian Grand Prix is his only F1 podium finish. The French also won the 1981 24 Hours of Le Mans in his class.
In 1989 pre-season testing, Streiff had a serious accident. He injured his spine as he was chained to a wheelchair inside. After completing his racing career, Philip took part in the organization of karting competitions.
