8 No Hamilton titles yet? Mercedes not optimistic for 2023 season
Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff is unsure if Lewis Hamilton and George Russell can compete for the title in 2023.
“We’ll see what happens, but my doubts about the new season remain. We have to be honest because at the end of the last championship Mercedes fell behind their rivals and we will start the new season from the same place. Although there are positive moments.
“I agree that the 2022 season has been disastrous for us, but we must not forget that we were close to Ferrari in the Builders’ Championship, we won one race and were on the podium ten times,” Wolff said.
2022 was dominated by Red Bull, which won the driver and team championships.
