Lorenzo Santorino (Sherco) from Salamanca helped Chile’s Nacho Cornejo (Honda) in the 9th Special of the Dakar Rally, pulling him out from under his bike and leading him to the finish line after an accident.

“There was a big change in level around 230 km. Cornejo rolled slowly but he stayed under the bike and I had to help him get off. I didn’t, but he messed up the navigation and I kept going until the end,” said Guijuelo after the special’s finish line.

Santorino was “happy” to have saved the “problems” they had on stage and had “good pace”.

“It was very fast. After I flew the last stage, I had a steady pace through the dunes. I knew[Kevin]Benavidez was going to catch me. He caught me. I had a good rhythm. “I went with him up to 160 kilometers,” Lauren said.

“At 140 we went in parallel on a ‘waypoint’ with no references and when we arrived at the point we saw (Matthias) Walkner on the right but he wasn’t there. I went to the other side and lost three minutes “max,” he said of his major setback on Tuesday.
