Alfa Romeo will launch its car for this year’s F1 season on February 27th. officially present, but today began testing the C42 at the Barcelona circuit with camouflage and tester driver Robert Kubitsa.

Hinville’s team – formerly of Sauber – had the first tests of the new Alfa Romeo C42’s systems during a day of filming at Italy’s Fiorano circuit last week with new driver Valteri Botas.

And then, as now, the C42 had camouflage in place of its final color, which the team will officially unveil next Sunday, February 27th at the car unveiling.

As a result, the team will maintain this camouflage during the first three days of this year’s winter testing for the development of the new Formula 1 cars, which will take place at Barcelona Circuit from today to Friday (23-25 February).

After Robert Kubitsa, the new car will be driven for these three days by Valteri Botas, who has switched from Mercedes to Alfa Romeo and has of course taken on the role of team boss, and by F1 debutant Chinese Guanyi Chou.

After five years of championship racing with Mercedes F1, with 10 wins and 58 GP podiums, Botas – who lost his place at Brockley to George Russell this year – said he feels “a great responsibility” to leading Alfa Romeo:
“THE Alfa Romeo “It’s a great legacy in automotive history, so it’s a big responsibility to drive.” said the Finn.

And he continued: “For the first time in my career I’m the most experienced rider on the team and I think that was the crew of the year now as I’m entering my 10th season [στη F1]. So I definitely feel obligated to lead the team and help them by giving what I have.

I saw that the team has great and good facilities, obviously from their time bmw, have invested heavily in the factory and have a good wind tunnel and equipment. What surprised me a little was that I saw fewer people in the factory [σε σχέση με τη Mercedes F1]. It’s certainly a bit smaller, but that could be an advantage given the speed of response to certain requests. You don’t have to go through ten people for one thing, and that’s a good thing.”concluded the 32-year-old.
