Sebastian Vettel does not rule out rallies

Despite being the focus of rumors of a managerial position at Red Bull Racing, Sebastian Vettel isn’t quite ready to hang up his racing gloves – and is considering trying his hand at rallying.

After 16 years and four world championships in Formula 1, Sebastian Vettel is considering following the example of Kimi Raikkonen – and partly Fernando Alonso – and trying his luck in a very different form of racing.

The 35-year-old, a former Toro Rosso, Red Bull, Ferrari and Aston Martin Formula 1 driver, retired from the sport at the end of 2022. At the end of this month, the German will be back at the start of the Race of Champions, where he will also, among other things, drive a rally car through the ice and snow of Sweden.

In light of that experience, he told the official F1 website: “For some reason I’ve always liked rallies. But I can understand that it’s a big challenge because it’s so different from what we do, from classic track sport. So I don’t know, we’ll see.”

Vettel went on to say that his interests in life after Formula 1 are diverse – as in addition to motorsport he also has social concerns in relation to human rights, the environment and sustainability: “The answer is I don’t know yet. It’s natural to look at other things. At first I think I’m looking forward to doing nothing at first and then seeing what happens.

There are many things on my mind, ideas and interests outside of racing. It is obvious that doing this for so long is central to my life. Well, it’s hard to say I won’t miss it, but I will miss it enough that I’ll look for something else, we’ll see.

I see the exit as an opportunity to learn a lot about myself, to put him in a position that I haven’t been in before and I don’t feel comfortable in because after all these years the truth is you know how to that takes work. Many things no longer surprise you.

So I’m looking forward to being surprised and spending more time with my family, my kids and learning with them. It will be a different challenge, at a different pace. At first I don’t want to look at the calendar and then of course at some point I have to find a lot of things to keep me busy because it’s a busy, busy bee, busy mind.concluded Sebastian Vettel.
