MotoGP: Francesco Banaya signs with Ducati until 2024

‘Peco’ – Francesco Banaya will be the factory rider for the Ducati Lenovo Team in MotoGP for two more MotoGP seasons.

Ducati Corse et al Francesco Banaja reached an agreement whereby the Italian rider will continue to ride the Ducati Lenovo Team’s Desmosedici GP factory bike in MotoGP for a further two years. The Italian’s contract, which expires at the end of the season, has been extended to 2024.

Year 1997, “Peko” bathroom made his MotoGP debut in 2019 with the Pramac Racing Team’s Desmosedici GP. Playing with the same team in the 2020 season, he achieved his first podium at the Lenovo Grand Prix in San Marino and Rimini Riviera, where he finished second.

The Torino-born rider was promoted to the official Ducati team last year and continued to impress after taking pole position and finishing 3rd at the opening GP of the 2021 season in Qatar, and soon became one of the main contenders the title. With 9 podiums, 4 wins and 6 pole positions, the bathroom finished 2021 in 2nd place and is now looking forward to the new championship starting on March 6th in Doha, Qatar.

For his part, Luigi Dal ‘Inia, General Manager of Ducati Corse, said that the team’s goal for 2022 is the title and that, since “Peko” went to Ducati in 2019, he has shown great talent and capacity for interpretation and felt very good about Desmosedici gp He even added that the way the Italian mastered the races at Aragon, Mizano, Portimao and Valencia, scoring four wins, is a testament to his maturity as a driver.
