Team ABT CUPRA XE ready for the new season of the Extreme E Championship
Up-and-coming driver Clara Anderson joins the team alongside Nasser Al-Attiyah, while the refreshed colors of the CUPRA Tavascan XE were also unveiled.
ABT CUPRA XE declares its readiness for the 2023 Extreme E Electric Championship, reveals the new colors for the Tavascan XE and announces the new driver team. This season, Nasser Al-Attiyah will ride alongside Clara Anderson after her impressive performances last year, including a podium finish in Chile in September and the team’s victory at the Energy X Prix in Uruguay in November.
Don’t forget that Extreme E is one of the few races in motorsport that features mixed teams of both sexes. Therefore, Clara, an aspiring World RX driver, will be teaming up with five-time Dakar winner Al-Attiyah (2011, 2015, 2019, 2022 and 2023).
With this strong duo and finishing Season 2 in 6th place overall, Team ABT CUPRA XE is focused this year on getting solid results from their third outing. The first race weekend of the new Extreme E season is scheduled for March 11th and 12th, 2023 in Saudi Arabia.
The team car has a refreshed look inspired by UrbanRebel, ABT CUPRA GEN3 Formula E and CUPRA e-Racer and stands out with its multi-layered livery in a combination of deep purple and neon yellow. The all-electric off-road racer hints at the design language used in the future production version of the CUPRA Tavascan, the brand’s second 100% electric model designed in Barcelona and due to hit European and global markets in 2024.
Extreme E hosts electric off-road races in natural environments threatened by climate change to demonstrate how we can prevent further damage and contribute to sustainability. CUPRA was the first car brand to announce its participation in the 2021 event, teaming up with ABT Sportsline as the team’s main partner.
