The Acropolis Rally remains in the World Rally Championship for two more years, for 2024 and 2025. Lamia will also host the base of the race in 2023, a multitude of events for its 70-year history.

The announcement of the two-year contract extension of the EKO Rally Acropolis with the organizer of the WRC was made today (02/16) by the Deputy Sports Minister Lefteris Avgenakis in connection with the announcement of the events for the 70 years of the Greek breed.

At the same time, the extension of the excellent cooperation with EKO, a member of the ELPE group, was announced, which will remain the main sponsor and name sponsor of the EKO Rally Acropolis until 2025.

After their eight-year absence from the World Rally Championship and returning to the institution in 2021, this year marks the third consecutive year the Acropolis – from 7-10 September 2023 – is the 10th WRC.

The Panhellenic Exhibition in Lamia will house the headquarters and service park, while the first post-launch circuit will, as in the past two years, start from Loutraki, which is still an integral part of the race.

2023 is a milestone for our national race as it celebrates its 70th anniversary since it was first held in 1953. This was preceded by two Greek rally races in 1951 and 1952.

The aim of the Greek Deputy Ministry of Sports and Motorsports this year is to show every Greek the heritage and development of the Acropolis Rally through activities related to technology, safety, environment, etc., and to celebrate the “myth” of the rally Rally of the Gods with those lucky enough to experience it in recent years and introducing it to the younger generation.

Details of events beginning in the last week of March will be announced shortly.
