Red Bull paid 8m for participation in F-1 season, teams not happy with wages
Formula 1 teams must pay a fee to the International Motor Sports Federation to qualify for the season, which depends on the final position in the Builders’ Championship and the number of points the drivers received last season.
Red Bull reportedly paid around 8 million euros for participation in the 2023 season: 6.2 million for the team, 1 million for Max Verstappen and 700 thousand euros for Sergio Perez. The amount is constantly increasing as we add more races to the F1 calendar.
“I was shocked when I saw the amount of points earned. I hadn’t noticed the order of the numbers before,” said Red Bull boss Christine Horner.
Verstappen called the fact of paying for participation in the championship absurd. Many teams are not happy with this situation, but the FIA has no plans to change the payment system for participation in the championship.
