For it not to happen again. FIA may change rules after Alonso penalty
The International Automobile Federation (FIA) will convene the Sports Advisory Committee. After the incident with Aston Martin’s driver Fernando Alonso during the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, they want to clarify the situation with the rules.
As you know, during the race in Jeddah, Alonso was initially fined for five seconds due to the incorrect position of the car, and after the finish he was fined another 10 seconds at the pit stop for the fault of the entire team. The maintenance of his car started earlier than expected.
As a result, third-placed Fernando was rewarded first, then deprived of third place and returned to the podium after the team’s objection.
The Sports Advisory Board meeting will be held on March 23.
