Sergio Perez: I want to beat Verstappen but we respect each other
Driver Red Bull Sergio Perez believes he has a chance to win the Formula 1 championship title in his fight against his partner Max Verstappen.
However, the Mexican driver denied media reports about his conflict with Verstappen.
“There’s a great atmosphere in the team, Verstappen and I respect each other. We’re both old enough to understand what can and can’t be done. It’s okay if it continues like this,” he said.
“I want to be the champion, there are small differences between us in qualifying and races. There is no doubt that Max is at his best in F-1 right now. It is difficult to beat him, it will require maximum strength from me,” said Perez.
At the end of the three stages of the Formula 1 season, Verstappen is in the lead, 15 points ahead of Perez.
