Women’s F1 Academy debuts at Circuit Barcelona Catalunya
he Circuit Barcelona – Catalunya hosted the debut of F1 Academywas the first women-only event officially promoted by Formula 1, completing two days of testing across the grid.
The category will start in 2023 and is scheduled for seven rounds with a total of five teams and three drivers in each.
With the International Tour aligned with F1 in 2024, this inaugural year will feature a special calendar with the Barcelona-Catalunya circuit appearing as the third qualifying event. The F1 Academy will take place at the Barcelona Espiritu de Montjuïc 6 Hours on May 20th and 21st.
The goal of the newly created championship is to encourage female drivers on the F3 grid for years to come and inspire more young girls to compete at the highest level in motorsport.
This international showcase features two Spanish pilots. Nerea Marti and Marta GarciaBoth have found another opportunity to promote domestic female talent in the auto industry after the W Series hiatus. EFE
