Africa and London Grand Prix. Formula 1 ready to hold 25 races per season
Formula 1 President Stefano Domenicali said the series is ready to go up to 25 races per season, but there are no specific options at the moment. There are 23 races scheduled for the current championship (there should have been 24 but the stage in China has been cancelled) and the F-1 is working on a grand prix on the African continent.
“100% work is being done to get Formula 1 back in racing in Africa. But you have to do a long-term project and not in a once-and-forget about it. There is interest from various circuits in the US, but I think we’ll focus on the three that are already there.
“As for Europe, there is the idea of holding a street Grand Prix in London. “They have their own problems, but we’re dealing with it,” Domenicali said.
In addition, the head of F-1 warns of historical tracks, such as the track at Monza. They won’t stay on the calendar just because of their legendary status.
There are problems where “historical” simply means what was once in the past. Take Monza. Amazing circuit, but owners should invest in it. Improve infrastructure, improve service for fans,” said Domenicali.
It was previously reported that stages in Monza and Spa may be in question, although many are fan favourites.
