There will be two qualifications. Formula 1 updates sprint race format
Formula 1 has decided to update the format of the sprint race, which will be held in the six stages of the championship this season.
Previously, the Saturday sprint race set the starting line for the standard Sunday race, but now the sprint has been decided to be a separate race that does not affect the regular race grid.
Now, actually, there will be two attributes.
On Friday there will be regular practice and qualification for the Sunday race, and on Saturday there will be a qualification for the sprint (called the Sprint Shootout) and the sprint itself.
The top 8 pilots will receive points for the sprint (8 points for 1st place, 7 points for 2nd place, etc.). The first sprint will take place as part of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
Updated Sprint weekend format:
Friday: Practice and qualification for the Sunday race.
Saturday: qualification for the sprint and the sprint itself.
Sunday: standard race.
