Spanish GP: Russell and Hamilton had contact in qualifying
Russell and Hamilton’s two Mercedes’ had contact during qualifying testing for the Spanish GP.
One incident that is sure to spark much debate occurred in the second quarter of Spanish GP qualifying after Russell’s and Hamilton’s car made contact.
Russell inexplicably slowed down the straight and then pulled into Hamilton’s lane to avoid another car.
Hamilton had to apply the brakes on the straight to avoid a collision, but the two Mercedes made contact and broke part of the world-champion car’s front spoiler.
Of course, Hamilton immediately complained to his mechanics, as did Russell, who explained to them why they hadn’t made him aware that there was another car behind him.
