Verstappen takes wet pole in Canada, while Hulkenberg and Alonso are in the top 3
Top 10: Verstappen, Hulkenberg, Alonso, Hamilton, Russell, Okon, Norris, Sainz, Piastri, Albon
Qualified for the Canadian Grand Prix. Despite a somewhat chaotic session due to rain and wet asphalt, Red Bull driver Max Verstappen took pole.
The championship leader was ahead of Nico Hulkenberg and Fernando Alonso. In the final episode, the pilots managed to get one lap each, and then red flags were raised due to Oscar Piastri’s crash. During the pause, the rain intensified, so no one improved the result. This allowed Hulkenberg at Haas to take the front row.
He failed to eliminate Sergio Perez and Charles Leclerc, who could not enter the top 10. Neither driver showed the result for slickness or intermediate tyres.
From the outside, watch out for Alex Albon, who pulled Williams into the third episode. The pilot found his way in the second segment, when the runway was a little dry, and soon succeeded in showing the best time on slippery ground before a new episode of rain.
