Alonso: ‘I want to stay 2-3 more years and I hope we win by then’
Fernando Alonso wants to stay in Formula 1 for at least two or three more years and is pushing Alpine to dream big, as he recently explained at a press conference.
Alpine does not currently appear to be in for the first two races of 2022, having managed to create a competitive car for Formula 1 victories and championships on the back of this year’s radical rule change – but Fernando Alonso is not giving up his hopes a third World Cup.
The Spaniard, a two-time champion in 2005-2006 with the same team when it was still called Renault, said he had no idea how long it would be before Alpine made the big step towards the championship – but as it got closer July, 41, explained: “I hope this happens as soon as possible because I won’t be driving forever. We’re all working 100%, so let’s see how long it takes.”
And he continued: “I don’t know if it’s coming in two, three, five or seven years, but I hope it will happen soon. THE Renault has been struggling with average capacity for the past few years and I think it’s time to change that and start dreaming big. We now have the ability to spend as much money as any other group (ss: due to the $140 million a year budget imposition) so we no longer have that excuse.
I still have a lot to offer. Formula 1 is a lot of fun for me at the moment. I enjoy racing and other off-track activities, so I think we’ll be staying here for at least another two or three years. I’ve never found being a bit older to be a disadvantage‘ Alonso continued.
The Spaniard spoke about his hopes for this year, adding: “I think we need 4-5 more games before we draw any conclusions. But if we talk about his performance alpine, “We are happy with the points collected so far and now it’s up to us to move forward with these new regulations.”
Rivola: I’ve never seen anyone like Alonso
Fernando Alonso, meanwhile, was praised by former Ferrari race director Massimo Rivola (who now works with Aprilia in MotoGP) and said the Spaniard’s intelligence made him one of the most impressive athletes he’s ever worked with.
“I’ve never seen anyone fight like him”said Rivola about Alonso. “Sometimes he literally made us feel stupid in the pits because he understood and knew everything. “We had so many screens of data in front of us, but he often came to conclusions before us while he was in the car at the same time job.” concluded the Italian.
But Fernando Alonso gradually formed the business for his life after Formula 1. In order to promote the careers of young drivers, he recently founded the company A14 Management and founded the Fernando Alonso karting school in his native country, while for a long time he has acquired 25% of the clothing brand Kimoa. Until then, Fernando holds the third largest contract in F1, with an annual income only lower than that of Lewis Hamilton and Max Ferstappen.
