Vezzecchi confirms leadership at Assen, Marquez signs 13th-year deal this fall
Italian Marco BezecchiSeemingly exhausted after their victory at Le Mans, Le Mans regained control and won two free practice sessions on the opening day of the Dutch Grand Prix at the historic TT Assen circuit. After that, he took the lead. He had a good session on the day, beating Jorge Martín by 0.130s. In MotoGP, the same rider dominated from start to finish, just like Moto3 (Jaume Macia) and Moto2 (Jake Dixon).
Bezzecchi, Martin, Miller, Bagnaia, Vinales, Quartararo, Aleix Espargaro, Binder, Marini and Alex Marquez secured Q2. The double presence of ‘only’ 5 of the 8 Ducatis and KTM made it the most varied Friday of the year. From Aprilia, and also from Yamaha in Quartararo.
Marc Marquez lives in a distant parallel reality Waging war on key positions and being the parsley of all sources in MotoGP is what it should be. After announcing the intentions of the Sachsenring and declaring that the world was forbidden to move on its own feet because the situation was already unsustainable, Marc Márquez stepped back for safety and kept a low profile. decided. Coming out to Assen with a fractured rib, a broken left thumb phalanx and a sprained right ankle means he will do his best and work on improving his bike while the situation is ‘fixed’. It can be taken as an intention to show Japan that. . The next few months. But he couldn’t even play the role of a fancy ‘tester’ at Assen, and without exaggeration he tried to chase the wheel of Maverick Vinales to move up the order. Couldn’t avoid adding, but it followed three curves. Already on this same P2, chasing his brother’s steering wheel, Alex had to save another hard slid on the Honda and another not-so-wild one after Bagnaia.
A week ago, he frustratedly dropped the comb on the dashcam and now leaned against the “air raid fence” waiting for the scooter. The day went without a hitch. Despite the bruises and cracks, he was determined to finish in the 8s 1 inch in the morning, and P2 followed suit, entering the Testers’ Cup alongside Savadori, Bradl and Folger. People who accompanied SBK Iker Lecuona from 19th place. Until the time attack when he attacked with the most modest forward soft, but still could not avoid a fall. He fell to the ground in three curves, following the fast wheels. He has been sentenced to a new Q1, with Johann Zarco being the main contender for one of the two play-off spots.
Frenchman Fabio Quartararo has to pass a new medical check-up after P1 and is set to continue for the rest of the Grand Prix despite breaking his left big toe in a fall while out this week. obtained a health status. To drive through the streets of Amsterdam. At the start, he led the first round alongside Alex Marquez and Marco Bezecchi, and was the most aggressive, although he never broke 1:33.
The first to get down to 1:32 was Maverick Vinales in the second round (1:32.960). After trying to close several good laps in a row so far, Alex Marquez scored the goal. His Ducati disconnected the electronics while his brother watched him in the box. Then Marc also had to follow his brother’s steering wheel to save another wild slide from Honda
Maverick Vinales replaced injured team-mate Aleix Espargaro and set a time of 1:32.741 on a circuit similar to his style, doubling Aprilia’s time and finishing two of the three sessions. By the end of the round, Aprilia had already overtaken championship leader Bagnaia. Marc Márquez, 1’5″ from the front, 20th before the new tyres, continuing the chassis comparison.
Already with 10 minutes left in the time attack, Maverick Vinales has raised Bezzecchi’s morning Super Time Trial standard from 1:32.374 to 0:128. And at 1 in 86,000, Jorge Martin stayed right behind. With a time of 1:32.254, ‘Vez’ was also just short of Friday’s best time (8/1000ths) to take the lead in second place.
Marc Márquez can’t escape, adding his 13th fall this year
And while his 13th crash of the year has been a cautious all-day, this one has dragged on, arriving at Turn 3 chasing Maverick Vinales’ steering wheel, he remains pensive as he leans against the protection as his scooter rolls. I was waiting for it to come back in the box. He was 17th overall for the day, an inch and two behind Reid, but still not out of Q1.
Vezzecchi finally broke the morning’s best time with a time of 1’32.063, Jorge Martín secured a double time with a difference of 0.130 seconds, and everyone updated the time.

Ferrari names troubled chief engineer over Lewis Hamilton
According to reports in the Italian media, the Ferrari team has made a decision about race engineer Lewis Hamilton for the 2026 season.
Riccardo Adami has been working with the seven-time world champion since the Briton moved to the Scuderia in January 2025. But there were a few strange and resonant radio conversations between them throughout the season.
During the Australian Grand Prix, Hamilton appeared confused by the lack of information from his engineer, and at the Miami round he reacted strongly to the situation, issuing team orders and advising the team to “drink some tea” after Charles Leclerc refused to let him pass.
At the Monaco Grand Prix, Riccardo Adami asked Hamilton: “Are you mad at me?” There was another incident where he ignored her request. Ferrari later announced that the engineer had left the pit wall at that time.
A similar situation was repeated after the last race of the season. During the radio exchange, Hamilton thanked the team and the race engineer for their cooperation, but received no response. The Briton then asked if they had heard him and received an explanation that the team were talking to each other at the time.
At the end of the season, team principal Fred Vasser said the Scuderia would review Hamilton’s inner circle to improve their results. And it looks like the decision has already been made.
According to Italian publication Auto Racer, Ferrari has decided to retain Riccardo Adami as Hamilton’s race engineer for 2026. The most important reason for this was a “very positive” private dinner between the pilot and the engineer.
The team expects to take a serious step forward in 2026 in light of new technical regulations. Next season could be decisive for Hamilton because 2026 is considered the last year of his current contract with Ferrari.
His first season in the Scuderia was a difficult one for the Briton. Hamilton finished the championship in sixth place using the problematic SF-25 car, but lost 86 points to his teammate.
Hamilton went a season without a podium for the first time in his career, while Leclerc scored seven goals. Of particular concern was the seven-time champion’s deteriorating qualifying form later in the year.

Mercedes boss: ‘Russell is ready to become F1 champion in 2026’
Mercedes Formula 1 team president Toto Wolff believes that driver George Russell is ready to become a champion, but young Andrea Kimi Antonelli still needs time.
“Nobody knows how much power the Mercedes engine will have in 2026. We don’t know what the other teams’ engines will be like either. Is Russell ready to take the championship if given the right car? 100%, absolutely ready. There is nothing to add here. He is ready to be champion.”
“Antonelli is only 19 years old. What kind of peak are we talking about? He can be at the peak after 3-5 seasons. I believe we should give him this time to gain experience.”
“It’s moving in the right direction,” Wolff said.

F1’s best rookie has his sights set on Ferrari: ‘Winning in red is my goal’
Haas driver and Ferrari development program graduate Olliver Berman said his goal is to race in the Scuderia in the future and win victories with the red car.
The Briton was already racing for Ferrari at the 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix when he replaced Carlos Sainz due to appendicitis. He has since made significant progress at Haas and will remain with the team at the start of the new season.
Berman congratulated Isak Hajar on his promotion to Red Bull and said:
“Yes, of course I’m a little jealous that he will be fighting for high results in a team like Red Bull. But I’m sure my time will come, too, and I’m very happy for that. We’ve been racing since Formula 3 and he has shown incredible talent and speed. It’s great that the new generation of drivers are being recognized and now both Kimi and Isak are in the top teams. That’s great. All you have to do is wait for your chance and it will definitely come.”
Berman said about his dream of competing for the Scuderia:
“This is definitely my dream. It motivates me to do my best and I get up every morning to do my best in everything I do. I want to perform in the red. I want to win in the red. That’s my life goal. I’ve been lucky enough to feel it once already and I know what it feels like, so I try to get back to that regularly.”
