Rovanpera Dominates His Rivals, Wins 3rd Straight in Estonia
Finnish pilot Calle Rovanpera Reigning world champion Toyota dominated its rivals in four stages on the third day of the competition. Rally in Estonia Achieved three consecutive victories in the Baltic Sea test.
After dominating the day’s eight stages on Saturday with a 34.9 second lead into the second stage, the Belgian Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) But instead of sacrificing himself and running defensively, Rovanpera continued to perform.
The Finn again confirmed his dominance by winning four stages on the third day, finishing the rally 52.7 seconds ahead of Neuville and 59.5 seconds ahead of compatriot Esapekka Lappi (Hyundai), who finished on the test podium.
In dispute over eight tests, Rovanpera extended his advantage in the provisional overall standings with 170 points, ahead of British team-mate Elfyn Evans with 115 points and Neuville with 112 points in third.
The next World Cup is scheduled for Rally Finland, which will be held from 3 to 6 August, right at home in Rovanpera.
