Leclerc: “We were stronger than expected”
In his statements after his victory at the Australian Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc spoke the best words for Ferrari, but described his car’s performance in the race as a surprise.
Charles Leclerc moved from second to third this season and celebrated his win at the Australian Grand Prix. The Monegasque Ferrari driver emphasized in his post-race testimony that on paper it looked like Red Bull would be faster, but on track it proved otherwise.
“Honestly, in our papers, which we may need to review, we were behind Red Bull at this track. We were stronger than we thought so it’s a surprise.
Of course, last year was very difficult for us, but this year we made it. The team basically did it because I simply gave my opinion on what I wanted from my car. To have a more powerful and reliable engine and a faster car” specifically mentioned.
He then stressed the need to apply more pressure as the year is still in its infancy: “I am happy and proud to drive for Ferrari. Two years ago it was not a given that we would return to this level. Now we have to keep pushing. The season is still far away, but the start is very good.”
