Gil Manzano, the real black beast, blows the derby whistle
Even after taking office, the hangover from the victory at Mestalla has not subsided. Gil Manzano, the referee from Extremadura for Saturday’s derby. He is by far the worst referee at Real and one of the most balanced referees at Athletic. Real Sociedad have won just three of the 19 games he has coached. There was a fourth win, but it was due to Racing’s resignation during the famous El Sardinero Cup match. The last five matches refereed by the Extremadura national team ended in realistic defeats. They have not won since April 2021 against Celta (2-1). Despite their overall balance being above positive (13 wins, 10 draws, 10 losses), Athletic are currently underperforming as they have not won their last six games.This will be my first derby as referee.
