Formula 1 returns to the cinema with Brad Pitt and Lewis Hamilton
Hollywood is preparing a new Formula 1 movie, on a much bigger budget than Rush, produced by Apple, with Brad Pitt in the lead role – as well as a role for Lewis Hamilton.
The new blockbuster of American cinema takes place in the microcosm of Formula 1 and its plot should be as follows: The protagonist Brad Pitt is a former F1 driver who returns after years to lead a new talent – but at the same time he succumbs to his desire after a final moment of racing fame.
Lewis Hamilton is expected to have a small role in the film, who recently announced that he had the opportunity to star in the new Top Gun: Maverick, which hits theaters in May, as well as for an audition role in Hollywood -Movie. “I don’t know if I’ll ever be good in the film, but I’ll try,” said the Englishman.
Pete, for his part, is a huge motorsport fan. He’s previously invested in a MotoGP team, narrated Mark Neal’s “Hitting The Apex” for the same sport and was involved in the early stages of “Ford v Ferrari” focusing on Lehmann’s 24 Hours – a film with Matt Damon and Christian Bale.
The production of the – currently anonymous – film is said to have a budget of 130-140 million dollars, which will make it significantly more expensive than the film “Rush”, which described the legendary duel between Nicky Launda and James Hunt in 1976.
It is telling that unprecedented competition erupted between the largest studios and streaming services in Hollywood for its production. MGM, Paramount, Sony and Universal were among the first to enter the competition, followed by Apple, Amazon, Disney and Netflix.
Well-informed sources in Hollywood say the competition was won by Apple Original Films – which is already working with Brad Pitt to produce a thriller starring George Clooney.
Directed by Jerry Bruckheimer, who has experience in motorsport films: In 1990 he directed Days of Thunder, which was developed at NASCAR and starred with Tom Cruise.
