US GP schedule: qualifying, sprint and race times in Austin
Two weeks after the Qatar GP, Formula 1 begins its journey to the Americas with four consecutive races in Texas, Mexico, Brazil and Las Vegas. Check out the Texas race schedule with the fifth sprint of the year.
The second of the now three US GPs in Austin, Texas, will be the 18th of 22 Formula 1 races on the program this year. Max Verstappen and Red Bull Racing have mathematically already secured this year’s driver and manufacturer titles and are of course the favorites for their 14th and 17th wins of the year in Texas.
Rather, the interest lies in the battle behind the champions between Mercedes, Ferrari, Aston Martin and McLaren, which is not only about the neighboring podium places, but also about 2nd and 3rd place in the constructors’ championship – each of which has a few more brings with it millions of dollars in television rights.
We will also be hosting a sprint race in both Austin and Brazil over the next three consecutive weekends. With this structure, the Sunday GP qualifying tests will take place on Friday afternoon. The sprint qualifying takes place on Saturday, then the actual sprint – a short race over one hundred kilometers – and the main Grand Prix on Sunday.
In detail, the program for the race at the Circuit of the Americas – where we will see the qualifying tests and the sprint on Friday and Saturday evenings – over this three-day period is as follows:
