Italian Francesco “Pecco” Bagnaia (Ducati Desmosedici GP23) missed out on qualifying for the second direct classification in 11th place, but he regretted it as follows: A problem arose when he fitted soft tires for the “time attack”.

“I started the session on intermediate tires to do more laps and it felt good, I felt good and my pace was one of the best. But I went on soft tires to do a ‘time attack’. When ‘they have a problem,’ Bagnaia claimed.

“Probably the best strategy was to start on soft tires like the other drivers.”, but in order to analyze the reaction of its tires, this was decided. In terms of the race, maybe our strategy was better, but we had a lot of trouble accelerating and entering the fast corners,” explained the MotoGP World Championship leader.

“My bike is very aggressive and I’m very nervous because from the last corner to the finish line I lost two tenths to Martin, which is unbelievable.” I was losing traction all over the track. That’s more or less the problem, but like in Mandalika (Indonesia), the bike doesn’t feel bad. It’s strange,” admits the current MotoGP world champion.

Regarding the changing times, he said: “Considering the weather forecast for Sunday that I saw, it’s definitely the best weather. With winds expected to exceed 50 km/h on Sunday, it will be difficult to even open the garage. “That’s definitely better.”

“We have worked harder than other teams for a long race with tires, but it will be difficult because tomorrow morning (Q1) will be difficult and it will be a very complicated day. Yeah, it’s very stressful,” Bagnaia admitted.

Regarding the failure to proceed to the second direct classification, he explained: “We go from circuit to circuit with more or less the same set-up, but for me it just doesn’t work. This was not the first time for Mandalika, and throughout the season more or less he would suffer a lot on Friday, feel better on Saturday and be fastest on Sunday. ”

“I have one day less time to aim for the fastest here.”, and it’s difficult to have a clear advantage on this circuit. Looking at my pace this morning and this afternoon, I have one of the most competitive in terms of lap times and tire stability. Because I used intermediate and the rest used soft. I think that’s why we worked so well. Today I was better than the others, but I need to improve in terms of starting with a better feeling,” admitted Bagnaia.
